Allison Griffin is a doctoral-prepared pediatric nurse practitioner committed to partnering with families to improve the lives of children and adolescents with developmental and behavioral challenges.
Allison received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a focus in pediatric primary care from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. During this program, she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and selected by the dean to serve on the Appellate Review Board. Allison later pursued a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Her DNP project aimed to determine the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary team assessment model for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders.
Allison spent more than six years working in the Center for Child Development at the Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she held faculty appointments in both the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing. In this role, Allison was responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of developmental and behavioral disorders. Additionally, Allison worked in an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic, and management services for children with a suspected autism spectrum disorder. Allison’s specific role within the team assessment was to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale, Second Edition (ADOS-2), which is currently viewed as the “gold standard” observational assessment for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders. Allison has reached the highest level of training on the ADOS-2 and is highly qualified to administer the assessment.
Allison lives in Nashville with her husband and three children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, being active, and traveling.
